Sigri group announced its first quarter results: the economic situation was unstable. In fiscal year 2013, the sales of low opening

increased by 8.5% year-on-year, reaching 414million euros. The graphite materials and systems business was at a cyclical bottom. The market environment of carbon fiber and composite business was still severe, resulting in a decline in the group's EBITDA

2013. On May 8, 2013, Shanghai. The SGL Group – the carbon company, the world's leading manufacturer of carbon graphite materials and related products, recently announced its first quarter financial report: the first quarter performance of 2013 was lower than expected. Although the shipments of energy efficiency products (PP) increased and the performance continued to be stable, the performance of the graphite materials and Systems Division was significantly lower than expected due to the cyclical downturn in the downstream market. The carbon fiber and composite business unit is still facing a severe market environment due to the delay of project development. Fisipe, which was acquired by the group in 2012, not only achieved a revenue of about 28.2 million euros this quarter. Thanks to this, the group's overall sales in the first quarter reached 414.1 million euros, an increase of 8.5% year-on-year (381.6 million euros in the first quarter of 2012). Due to the lower profitability of the graphite materials and systems and carbon fiber and composites business unit, the EBITDA of the first quarter (which will bring a significant change in the cost-effective production of composite components for commercial aircraft and passenger cars) decreased by more than 30% to 34.1 million euros (52.7 million euros in the first quarter of 2012)

Robert Koehler, CEO of Sigri group, said: "The first quarter is our traditional off-season. However, due to economic uncertainties, the performance in the first quarter of 2013 was weaker than expected. This was mainly due to the cyclical bottom of the special graphite business, and the continued price pressure on the carbon fiber business due to the delayed recovery in the end market. Therefore, we had to adjust our performance forecast for the whole year of 2013, which is expected to be the same as last year."
